Russel can Paint in the Dark, but his Painting Light Up the Boston Commons
Russel St. John ( a pseudonym ) is a street artist born in Boston, who spends most of his days in the Boston Commons.
Russel began painting just six months ago. “I am very perceptive, I see everything. One day my friend came in the room asking me what I was doing in the dark. I was painting in total darkness.” Russel says.
Russel broke his arm recently in an accident, he says, but this does not stop him from pursuing his passion.
Russel has a very impetuous personality. These two men were trying to pick a fight with him. An offer that he readily accepted.
Russel spends his days at a home for drug and alcohol addicts. From them he gathers a great deal of his inspiration.
His previous passion was photography. The dreamy paintings are copies of pictures that he has taken. Russel pays homage to his Italian ancestry by writing “Grazie” (Thank you).
